Think About This:

• Every 9 seconds a woman is battered in the U.S.
— Family Violence Prevention Fund

• Domestic violence is the cause of 30% of physical disabilities in women.
— California Department of Social Services

• Nearly one-third of American women (31 percent) report being physically or sexually abused by a husband or boyfriend at some point in their lives.
— Commonwealth Fund Survey

• 90% of battered women reported that their children were present when they were beaten.
— National Crime Statistics Report

• Domestic Violence is a major contributor to homelessness where the average age in the US is now nine.

The cost to children is measured in their own suffering. As a witness to their mother’s abuse, they suffer from anxiety and depression with associated low self-esteem and poor school performance.

Tragically, many believe that they are themselves responsible. Children who grow up in an abusive home enter a cycle of violence passed on from one generation to another.
